10 member countries of ASCOJA, Japan Alumni Associations in the respective ASEAN countries, take turns at holding general meetings named “ASCOJA Conference” once every two years.
A number of Japan alumni, former international students from ASEAN who used to study in Japan, participate in ASCOJA Conference as ASCOJA members.
ASCOJA Conference is usually held for 3 days. The purpose of ASCOJA Conference is to discuss the issues on strengthening of Japan-ASEAN relations and to encourage cultural exchange among the Japan alumni, through a plenary session, a symposium on the scientific and academic themes of the conference, and cultural exchange programs.
The handover ceremony of ASCOJA chairmanship is held on the final day, where the next ASCOJA Chairperson takes over ASCOJA flag. The conference ends with a finale of the handover ceremony.
